• Undoes the last change made to the active movie.
Cut (‚åòX)
• Clears the selected segment of the active movie, or, if none, the current frame.
• Saves it to the clipboard for use with Paste, Add, Replace and Add Scaled.
Copy (‚åòC)
• Saves the selected segment of the active movie, or, if none, the current frame to the clipboard for use with Paste, Add, Replace and Add Scaled.
Tip: Hold down option to turn this command into Append.
— Append pastes the selected segment of the active movie onto the contents of the clipboard.
Paste (‚åòV)
• Inserts the contents of the clipboard (obtained from Cut or Copy) after the current frame of the active movie.
Tip: Hold down option to turn this command into Replace.
— Replace inserts the contents of the clipboard
· unlike Paste, this overwrites the current selection.
Clear (‚åòB)
• Clears the current movie selection, without saving it to the clipboard.
• Pressing the delete key has the same effect.
Select All (‚åòA)
• Selects all of the active movie.
Tip: Hold down option to turn this command into Select None.
— Select None deselects any selection in the active movie.
Add
• Inserts the contents of the clipboard as a separate movie track
· the added movie track starts at the current frame,
· this is useful for adding a soundtrack to an existing movie.
Add Scaled
• Inserts the contents of the clipboard as a separate movie track
· the added movie track starts at the current frame,
· this is useful for adding a soundtrack to an existing movie,
· the duration of the added movie track is scaled to fit the selection
— (stretching or squeezing the clipboard contents to fit).
Crop
• Clears the parts of the movie that are not selected
· it reduces the movie to the current selection.
Copy Frame
• Saves the current frame as a PICT image to the clipboard.
Export Sound
• Saves the movie soundtrack as an AIFF sound file.

Set Default Speed
• Sets the normal speed of a movie to the current speed shown in the Speed Palette. The next time the movie is opened, it will be played at this speed. If the Speed Palette is not open, the speed is reset to 1.0.
Set Default Size
• Sets the normal size of a movie to the current size of the movie. The next time the movie is opened, it will be displayed at this size.
Preferences…
• Displays a dialog allowing settings to be customised:
· click the coloured box to change the background colour used in Stage,
· select the monitor you wish the movie to play on in Stage
— the “main monitor” is the monitor containing the menu bar
— if you only have one monitor, this option is disabled,
· enter the number of seconds of blank screen before and after the movie plays in Stage,
· select whether you want the Stage to close automatically after the movie finishes playing,
— otherwise you must click the mouse or press the escape key or ⌘-. during the movie to stop it (you can do this even if “Stop after playing” is selected,
· select whether the mouse can be clicked in Stage without closing it — this is useful for interactive movies — (in this case press the escape key or ⌘-. to stop Stage),
· select whether the monitor should be set to the best screen depth for this movie (this improves movie playback and image quality),
· select whether the monitor should be set to the best screen resolution for this movie (the movie looks its best at this resolution),
· select the format for the sub-seconds counter (the time counter on the far right) in the Speed Palette
— 24 fps (frames per second) is the cinema film standard,
— 25 fps corresponds to the broadcast PAL and SECAM standards,
— 29.97 fps corresponds to the broadcast NTSC standard,
— 30 fps is an approximation of the broadcast NTSC standard,
— 60 ticks per second is the internal time standard used by Mac OS,
· select whether you want all movies to use the same movie settings
— these include Loop, Loop Back and Forth, Mute and Play All Frames,
· select whether you want movies to play automatically when they are opened
— otherwise, you must click the “play” button in the movie controller to start playing the movie,
· select whether you want to save the “Open options” you have chosen for next time you run Play it Cool. “Open options” include loading the movie into RAM and changing the movie’s icon to the Play it Cool movie icon
— otherwise, these three options will be turned off by default,
· enter the initial width (in pixels) of new and sound-only movies. The standard width is 160 pixels.
